When you can’t control what’s happening to you, change your response to it. When you can’t control the circumstance, control your attitude. When things happen to you or around you that you can’t control, challenge yourself to improve your response to what is happening.
That is your superpower.
Don't stumble over something behind you.
There are many legitimate roadblocks & obstacles on our path to progress but your past shouldn't be one of them.
Your past can only hold you back if you stay with it.
I am challenging you to say less and do more.
I want to challenge you to say less about what you want. To say less about what’s in your way. To say less about what is hard or why you’re frustrated I want to challenge you to say less about what other people are doing Say less about your confusion. Say less about your disappointments and how you’ve let yourself down. I want to challenge you to do more.
Last set, best set
How often does our effort decrease over time? Sometimes it’s because our attention wanes, other times because we’re tired or we’re bored or because in our mind, we’ve already moved on to the next item on our to-do list.
But what if we decided to adopt this idea of ‘last set best set’ as an operating system? What if you brought your best attitude and energy to your LAST meeting of the day? What if the last email you send before leaving work is the most thoughtful or productive? What the last hour of your day is the one that makes you the most proud?

He who eats what he does not need steals from himself.
We only hurt ourselves when we go beyond of financial needs, our physical needs. We tell ourselves that we’ll feel better or be happier if we buy what we can’t afford, eat what we don’t need or sleep when we need to get up. But we won’t. The thing we choose – that thing we “buy”, literally or figuratively – that we do not need – when we steal from ourselves – we tighten our shackles.
When pursuing a goal, we often create a standard of perfection for our choices that we hope to achieve.
When something disallows that standard to be met (circumstances, choices, emotion), we use it as an excuse to pass up any and all opportunities for progress.
We wait for a fresh start.
This pattern holds us back.
Instead of focusing on what you can’t do, didn’t do or don’t want to do, what if you made the internal dialogue more simple & direct?
What CAN I do? What ARE my options? What am I willing to do today?
Discipline is freedom Too often, we look at discipline as a burden, as a restriction. Many of us see discipline as the opposite of freedom. But discipline is not restriction. Discipline creates freedom. It leads to freedom. The more discipline you demonstrate, the more freedom you have.
Don’t be afraid to give up the good for the great.
Change is incredibly hard and often extremely uncomfortable. Transitions take courage and mental toughness. But you cannot move to where you want to be if you won’t let go of where you’ve been.
Confidence has no competition.
Do not make the mistake of thinking confidence is a byproduct of achievement. Achievement is a byproduct of confidence.

Too often, when we experience a little success, we slack. Maybe after weight loss, we celebrate with food.
Use your accomplishments to move you forward, don’t use them to justify excuses.
Don’t take your thoughts so seriously
Almost all our unhappiness comes from thoughts about what has happened and not what actually happened.
Focus on the simple, good things.

When the circumstances of your life aren’t in your favor, that’s not a time to wait until things settle down or turn around. It’s time to work. It’s time to steer the ship. It’s time to roll up your sleeves and, through your own actions, through your own determination, through your own effort, take your life in the direction you want to move.
One of the reasons change feels so hard is because we go about it the wrong way. We think that desire or motivation merits trying to move from being a beginner to being an expert. There is a framework that makes change easier and more sustainable.
What if, instead of thinking about what you’re working towards over the next month or year, you just focus on doing your best right now?
What if your sole focus was the effort you bring to each moment of today?
The one who acts with the most courage wins.
Courage is not fearlessness. Courage is not confidence.
Courage is the decision to take action despite feeling fear, nervousness, hesitation or lack of confidence.
What can you do today that requires courage? Identify it and do it.

There is a story about everything that is against you. Everything that is your way. Everything you are up against. There is a story about why it’s hard and how you doubt yourself. There’s also a story about what’s on your side. There’s a story about your capability. Your potential. Your opportunity. Your chances. Your choices. Your focus & determination. You can write either story. Both stories are true.
Do not write or participate in the story of what is against you. Yes, it’s there, yes it’s true and you do not have to participate or follow the plot line.
Keep going until hard becomes easy! Easy is earned through consistent practice.
Your brain is a suggestion engine, not a control center.
Whatever pattern you feel you are stuck in was created by you and that's great news because you can change it.
We often get stuck in these patterns because we focus on what we want NOW instead of what we want MOST.
Sometimes when we have a goal, we identify everything we could do to reach it and start trying to do all of those things at once.
While that's ambitious, it's often not effective.
Do less but have the things you focus on be meaningful.
Winners focus on winning, losers focus on winners.
We have a finite amount of time, of energy and of attention. Any time, energy or attention given to comparing yourself to others is time, energy and attention you failed to give to your own journey.
Keep your eyes on your own work.

When you are focused on outcomes, on lack and on what you haven't yet achieved, you're likely to experience disappointment.
That is optional. You can choose to practice gratitude and presence to reduce the chances that you'll give up, give in and feel frustrated.
Take action. Start doing.
Do more, think less.
If you wait until you have everything you need, you'll never start. You have all it takes, right now. Value experience more than learning. Take action!
You know that life you want? The one you hope for and kinda think might be possible if you worked really hard? You have the power to create it. Now. That full, abundant life you want requires that live fully in the present, to see and take advantage of the opportunities in front of you instead of wrestling with the future or the past.

Too often, we don't take action because we can't do it perfectly. If that's the perspective you continue to choose, you'll likely fail to get where you're trying to go. There's another way.
